Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) is part of the SLDocs Terms of Service. SLDocs is a personal document vault for estate-planning and end-of-life materials. Capitalized terms have the meanings in the Terms.
How we apply this policy. Consistent with our Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy, we do not read, monitor, review, or analyze the contents of the documents you store. The only automated process that inspects an upload is a malware scan (described below). We do not otherwise review or analyze your files for their content, and we have no ability to identify prohibited content on our own. (Separately, when you ask us to deliver a document by fax, we convert that document for transmission — that is a delivery step you initiate, not content screening.) The rules below define what you agree not to store or do. We act on a violation only if we become aware of it — for example, through a report from you or a recipient, or through valid legal process — not through proactive monitoring.
1. Prohibited Content
You may not upload, store, or transmit:
- Content that is unlawful for you to possess, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or content that infringes another’s intellectual-property or privacy rights. As stated above, we do not monitor or scan for such content; however, if we become aware of apparent CSAM, we will report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A);
- Malware or malicious code (uploads are scanned; infected files are quarantined or rejected);
- Documents you have no lawful right to hold — the vault is for your own records and records you are lawfully entrusted with (for example, as a fiduciary);
- Protected Health Information stored on behalf of, or as a Business Associate or subcontractor of, a HIPAA Covered Entity or Business Associate, absent a separately executed Business Associate Agreement with SLDocs. Storing your own health-related documents for your own purposes is permitted (Terms §8).
2. Prohibited Conduct
You may not:
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service except under our published vulnerability-disclosure safe harbor (SECURITY.md / security.txt);
- Circumvent access controls, rate limits, plan limits, or the recipient/executor verification flows; impersonate another person, including in an executor or assisted-recovery request (submitting forged documents is grounds for immediate termination and referral to law enforcement);
- Resell, sublicense, or operate the Service for third parties except as a Firm under a signed agreement with SLDocs;
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited messages; recipient and SMS notifications operate only through our consent-gated flows;
- Access the Service by automated means. SLDocs does not offer or support any public, partner, or developer API; no API keys, tokens, or webhook subscriptions are issued for programmatic access. All use of the Service is intended to be interactive and human, through the official web interface. Scraping, crawling, scripted requests, headless-browser automation, bulk enumeration, and any other non-interactive access are prohibited without our prior written authorization. This rule does not prohibit (a) assistive technologies (screen readers, password managers, browser accessibility features) used by a person interacting with their own account, (b) ordinary search-engine indexing of our public marketing pages, or (c) good-faith security research conducted in accordance with our published Security Policy (security@sldocs.com; safe harbor as stated there — own test accounts only, no data exfiltration, no service degradation, coordinated disclosure);
- Use the Service in violation of U.S. sanctions or export laws.
3. Firm-Specific Rules
Firms must additionally: upload to a client vault only with the client’s recorded Model C consent; not use client contact data obtained through the Service for marketing without independent lawful consent; and not remove or obscure required “Powered by SLDocs” attribution (tier-dependent; see MSA).
4. Enforcement
Because we do not review the contents of what you store, we act on AUP violations when we become aware of them. When we do — through a report or through valid legal process — we may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts for AUP violations (Terms §10), with notice where practicable. We may preserve, and disclose content, in response to valid legal process (such as a court order, subpoena, or other lawful request) or where otherwise required by law, and we will report apparent CSAM to NCMEC as described in §1. Report abuse to support@sldocs.com.
Please don't email sensitive personal or health information or documents — email isn't encrypted and may be stored outside the U.S. Use your in-product vault instead.
